About the Teacher
My name is Shanna Reynolds and I have been teaching for 23 years. In 2011, I earned my National Board Certification for teachers. I taught at Gattis Elementary for 5 years, and have been at Blackland Prairie Elementary since our school opened in 2001.
I grew up in Alice, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Because I graduated from UT, I am a huge Longhorn fan and LOVE to watch Longhorn football.
I am married (husband Scot) with two daughters, Samantha (13) and Alexandra (9). We love to spend time together outdoors, hiking, biking, swimming, and camping. We also jump at the chance to travel and learn about new places. When we can't venture outside, we enjoy watching movies, reading, or playing games.
Our family would not be complete without our three dogs, 2 cats, 1 leopard gecko and two hamsters and a fish.
A teacher is the only thing that I ever wanted to be. I have truly enjoyed every year of my career and believe that I have the greatest job on Earth. Every day when I go to work, we do something new and exciting. No two days are EVER the same and I get to spend the day with the most amazing, enthusiastic, and genuine members of our society - children.
I have a passion for teaching and I hope that it is exemplified in every interaction with my students and parents. It is my goal that each child achieves greatness in self-confidence and their understanding of math and science concepts.
