Yesterday we spent lots of time outside tracking the sun with our sundials. We also traced the shadow of students at different times of the day. We were surprised to see the long western shadows in the morning, the short shadows around noon and the long eastern shadows in the afternoon. It was a great sunny day for exploring science.
On Thursday in class, we learned to measure to the nearest 1/4 of an inch. Of course we needed to practice our new skill... so I hid lots of bugs around the classroom- under desks and cabinets, hidden behind chairs and on walls. Kids ran around the room measuring the bugs for accuracy! Learning is so much fun!
The students planned and ran the Valentine's Day party and it was a great sticky success! Thank you to all the parents who contributed and came to help! We couldn't have done it without your support! *Mental note- Avoid marshmallow games in the future.
Today we hosted many guests as part of our Symposium and Leadership Day. Students brainstormed parts of our classroom that they wanted to share. Next they broke into groups and created Google Slideshows to present the Leadership material to guests.
