Today we take a VERY close look at how wind can cause erosion. We raced to move a sand dune from one end of a box to the other. We learned a great deal about the force and direction required to move sediment with wind only. We saw how the mass of sediment pieces can change how far or easily they travel. It was interesting that our "new" sand dune did not resemble our original sand dune. There were also some unexpected lessons about sand- how it can infiltrate well placed goggles and quickly cover every moderately close surface! I would say we got down to the nitty-gritty of this lesson!
