Today, we were paleontologists as we rebuilt the skeleton of a scaphognathus crassirostris. It was difficult because we didn't know what the dinosaur looked like before we started! There were some wild ideas about where the bones should go. Some of our groups based their design on prior knowledge of other dinosaurs and other groups based their design on animals they were familiar with like dogs or unicorns. We were all surprised when we saw the correct placement of bones and learned the creature had wings! Here are some pics of our work.
